Fighting Irish

Well, well, well… here we are, St. Patrick’s Day weekend. If you have followed me on Instagram, you know I LOVE a theme. I also love when it collides with my heritage. So obviously this red head, green eyed, Irish (and some other similar stuff) girl took the bull by the horns and picked out 3 books to feature this weekend. So here is the first of three – Fighting Irish by Katy Regnery.

The plot of this 254 page book is – Rory Haven and Brittany Manion knew one another as children… but it’s been a long time since their childhood summers at Summerhaven.
The Havens weren’t the children who attended exclusive Summerhaven Camp in Center Sandwich, New Hampshire. They were the children of the owners, expected to “pull their weight” and absolutely forbidden to fraternize with the paying guests. But that didn’t keep Rory from having a quiet, unrequited crush on gorgeous, popular, insanely-rich, Brittany Manion for three tortuous summers.
When all-grown-up, recently-engaged Brittany books the off-season summer camp for her upcoming spring wedding, she immediately recognizes Rory as the scorching-hot boy who wouldn’t give her the time of day. Meanwhile, Rory, who senses that Brittany’s nuptials are less about Mr. Right and more about Mr. Right Now, launches the fight of his life to win the heart of the girl he’s always wanted.

My View- I love this storyline and concept. It is absolutely adorable. I love the authenticity of it from the language to the wooden spoon. Now, I don’t remember my Nana with a spoon but I am also the 7th grandchild so you would need to check in with the older ones to confirm that, but my husbands Nana… she had a spoon. Not only have I heard all about the spoon (and we still mark some of my youngest behaviors that would have gotten him the spoon) but the house we stayed at on my second big family vacation had a gigantic spoon on the wall, perfect for her to grab at any second and use on any of us. So I can confirm, the spoon is a real thing. I would also like to add she refused to meet me until it was pointed out that I had not tattoos or abnormal piercings. So are the events that happen to Brittany and Rory that lead them back to each other. It is my favorite part of this whole book. Sometimes the universe just knows…
