With hockey on the brain this time of year is it really a surprise that I decided to give Dirty Player by Mira Lyn Kelly a look? Nope.
The plot of this 269 page book is – It started as a joke…
A throw away promise between friends.
A dare for a single kiss at our reunion and nothing more.
But that kiss…
That kiss was no joking matter.
It was hot and wet.
A hands-everywhere, breathless kind of insanity that left us both teetering on the brink.
She’s got rules about dating guys like me…
Rules I respect the hell out of when they apply to any other pro athlete.
But as they apply to me? Well, those rules are about to be broken.
My View – Okay, so there are a few things here…
First, I again started this because it’s still playoff hockey season here. I find it’s easier to read and watch the games if the themes match up. This book however was not a typical hockey story. At no point was it a focus, just what he does.
Second, have you ever read a book and been completely on the male side? No, I don’t mean you’re like him (although I can see how that could happen) but you are “for him” and the female is the “bad guy”? Well, the chance is now here… #TeamGreg
Third, this story really picks up at the 50% mark and it get real from there. I know I mention that point of the book a lot but in this case it is fully true. And let me just state that I am beyond thankful people don’t photograph my every move. I do sometimes get myself caught in innocent situations that could cause trouble…
Finally, the epilogue… my gosh! It wraps up Greg and Julia’s story nicely but it’s more a dive into Jack’s story and let me warn you… Just take my money NOW. I don’t care how much it is, $3.99 if you really must know, and I have to have it!
