If you follow me on Instagram, this is the one you have been waiting for. This is the one that caused those eyes. This is My View of I Never Planned On You by Steffanie Jenkins.
The plot of this 320 page book is – Dani had her entire life planned out by the time she was thirteen. She was going to marry the boy who stole her heart – her brother’s best friend – have a great life, and live happily ever after. Then tragedy struck and Dani had to bury those childhood dreams in a pine box along with the love of her young life. The memory of what she lost haunted her until she disappeared into the night, leaving behind everyone, and everything she’d ever known.Years later, she returns home to find everything has changed. When she meets Kyler, there is something about him that gets past the walls around her heart. Will she let fear control her, or will she let go of the past and learn to love again?
My View- I am a firm believer that everything happens how it’s supposed to. Not everything can be perfect and bad times can lead to deeper happiness, but it always happens how it’s supposed to. Just like how I tried to get out of reading this book. As you have now seen, I double booked this day and with back to school and hockey camp and a very long work week, I got in over my head. I checked with the group I work with, they said I really needed to do it so I did. What happened next is almost what I thought would happen. I knew it was going to be an emotional read, but I didn’t expect to be bawling my eyes out almost the entire book.
This book is emotional. If I had a ‘Top Emotional List’ this book would hands down be #1. Once you read the blurb you know what’s coming so from the very first pages the tears were flowing. Stefanie Jenkins took you there, made you live it, had your heart fall in love with theirs and just rip it to pieces. There is so much pain, and heart break, and love and rebuilding. This book makes The Notebook seem like a rom-com.
I highly recommend this book! Click here to pick up your copy!
I also recommend picking up some tissues and eye drops while you’re at it…
